You can endeavour to set Firefox as the default browser straight from Firefox:

1. Open Firefox
2. Click the menu push button and select Options.
3. In the Full general panel, click Brand Default….

Caveat:

He recommended...

"C:\Plan Files\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe" /SetAsDefaultAppGlobal

Simply I had to use a dissimilar path.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe" /SetAsDefaultAppGlobal

Now when y'all go to set the default browser app you should also come across Firefox as one of the choices only like before.

When you click on MAKE DEFAULT yous will non run across Firefox as ane of the choices like used to exist the example.

Here is what I see when I await at my Default Apps. I take Windows 10 Domicile on my Desktop, Version 2004. Clicking on Microsoft Edge I see this.

If you expect at the paradigm I posted in my start answer I haven't changed any of what is showing on my reckoner. I will attempt clicking on the Default in Firefox and come across what happens. I opened Firefox clicked on Options and so clicked on Make Default, that took me to my Default apps where I had to cull Firefox to make it my default. See prototype below.

This is my current version of Firefox.

Perchance you are ane of the lucky ones. :-)

Actually I used to see a similar list of choices for my DEFAULT BROWSER -- including Firefox.

Then I obviously got also ambitious with some of the cleanup features in CCleaner.

Dang the bad luck. Ugh.

But since this same issue was addressed dorsum in Jan where Sumit (Independent Counselor) posted the same solution I did from the Command Prompt -- it makes me think that but running CCleaner is NOT the one and merely cause.

Note: I believe you demand a 'infinite' earlier (x86).

For example, what if y'all installed Firefox on a brand new laptop correct out of the box? Could you gear up it as the default browser? I don't know the respond.
